Experience a Regatta

“Sailing for Life” starts event series for spring and summer 2007 to benefit the RFL fundraising effort. Various yacht clubs in Second Life will host exciting and fun sailing events and parties, and landlubbers and new people to sailing are most welcome too! The regattas are fun and lighthearted competitions, and if you don’t yet have a sailingboat, ask kindly and there will certainly be sailors who let you ride on their boat as passenger.

Starboards Yacht Club at Hollywood sim will start the events with a small regatta series:
May 6th - Sunday Regatta at 10am SLT
May 8th - Races on Tuesday at 1pm SLT
May 10th - Races on Thursday at 6pm SLT
May 12th - Awards Dance will be hosted in the Hollywood Bowl with DJ Derrick Stewart from noon until 1:30pm

All participating Skippers will need to wear a Sailing for Life T-shirt (pink and blue versions available and are available in the SYC Clubhouse for $150L) during each Regatta. Skippers will ALSO need to purchase a Starboards Yacht Club / Relay for Life Sailor’s Cap (low prim count) which they will wear in the regatta. The Sailor’s Cap will cost $500L. ALL of that fee will go to the Relay for Life fund. You will need to purchase a differently colored cap for each regatta that you participate in. The winner of each Regatta will receive a trophy (go to Starboards Yacht Club to see the Winner’s Trophy). In addition, a smaller trophy will go to the second and third place skippers.

Followed by this later in May, Nantucket Yacht Club will have and exciting day - including a yacht club opening party, concerts from SL live musicians and a big boats regatta:

May 20th - Nantucket Yacht Club
1pm-5:30pm SLT RFL Charity Concert
5:30pm-6pm Open house of new Clubhouse
6pm Big Boat races

Everyone is most welcome to join these events, either sailing or watching the races from the clubhouses, or dancing at the parties.
